Writing to flash when a running config has changed

Hi all,

I have installed NCM 7.0.2 and it is able to download startup/running configurations from the devices in the network. According to the network team, they are looking for a similar functionality to their previous system.

- NCM connects to the device nightly and downloads the running configuration

- Has the configuration changed?

No? Don't save the downloaded config to the database/archive

Yes?

- Save the configuration to the database/archive

- Issue a command to save the running-config to the startup-config

I am able to configure the schedule and to not save the config if it hasn't changed, but I am not sure how to perform the last step - save the running-config to flash if it has changed.

Is this possible?

The teams reasoning behind not using the startup/running comparison feature is that for the number of devices in the system, they don't want to continually have to check for startup/running differences then go and execute the script to save the config.

Any thoughts or tips from other NCM setups would be appreciated. I'm also happy to investigate other methods if they're easier or perform a similar function.

Cheers,

Steve
